Our Miracle Girl!

It's June 2011, she lay there screaming, her arms flailing, her hand banging her nose for no apparent reason. She was eight years old. For her entire life she was in a prison, a prison of her own home. Her grandparents didn’t want to see their “cursed” grandchild, so she was kept inside her dark mud hut. She was fed a glass of warm milk every day for eight years. No wonder she was about the size of a 2 year old. Her legs were bent and she cried because of the light. Allen, the precious girl who has changed so much from those days.

June 2011

 

It's January 2013, Allen was 10 years old. She was putting on some weight but not enough. She was still very light and Carol, a 3 year old in the Special Needs Class weighed more than her.  They took her to the doctor and they found out she had TB. Allen started her TB treatment and she began to gain weight!



February 2013



It's today, and the end of year party. She sits up straight in her wheelchair smiling and in her party dress! She giggles and laughs and watches the Christmas decorations getting put up and everyone getting ready for the party. When everyone arrives we go around the room, and share about how each child in the class has grown throughout the year. Allen is referred to as the miracle girl. A broken, fragile, close-to-death, rejected little girl is now full of smiles and giggles. She is learning to feed herself.  She has blessed me in so many ways and her little giggle reminds me of how great and faithful God is! She may not be able to walk or talk but she has blessed so many people!
