Snakes and Telescopes

On Monday we did school with quite a few interruptions. We were working on Science and then all of a sudden Christina who was done school came in and said, " Come see a dead snake." Of course we wanted to see. It lay dead on the volleyball court. Some people were looking at it an deciding what it was. It was a puff-adder. The snake was quite small but it was still poisonous. This is how it got killed. People here cut grass with hoes. They sometimes use a lawnmore but it is not like the ones we have in Canada. Most people though cut grass with a hoe. So someone was cutting the grass when suddenly he picked his hoe up high and slamed it down on the snake! Then the flies and the ants started to eat away at it. Later in the day some of the Ugandans decided to disect it. It now lies in 2 pieces on the road. ULGH!

The next interruption was when some people started to set up a telescope outside. Of course we just had to go and look. They had made it point at a tree but then they made it point at the hand prints on a house down the hill. That was a lot more interesting than the tree, sure trees are cool but leaves on trees aren't things you look at for a long time all at once. They next pointed it at the small 1 room school house for 4 kids. There is hand prints on the back of the building. They pointed it there and we could see the hand prints down the hill and on the building. It was pretty interesting. Then we needed to go back to school.
