Jiggers

         Today I had the pleasure of going to the clinic today to get a jigger extracted. Jiggers are fleas that burrow into your skin and then lay eggs and multiply in your feet and hands. At Musana Camps there are quite a few more jiggers than at Kasana, especially in the fishing village down the hill from the site. So when we arrived home from the camp I noticed a little white bump on my foot with a little brown spot on the top. Since it was Saturday evening and there was no time to go to the clinic and the next day was Sunday we waited until Monday to go to the clinic. When we arrived we waited for a while in typical Ugandan time and then Aunt Dorthy began picking at it with a needle. In a while she had got it out, put some iodine on it and bandaged it. It is healing now and it is not paining me which is good.
