A Day in the Life...

Today was pretty much a typical Saturday. We woke up a little later than we normally do on the week days and then I made breakfast. After we ate, Christina went up to David Family and I mopped, cleaned the kitchen and sorted the laundry from yesterday. After that I spent some time on the computer and called my friend Kara. She came over at about 12:30 and we finished watching an episode of a TV series (that is now on DVD) that we were watching and then we had lunch together. John had his friend Kevin over and he ate lunch with us as well.

In the afternoon we went to the EYO bazar. What is EYO you ask? Well, EYO is short for Emmanuel Youth Outreach. It is a group of young people who do outreaches throughout the year and serve others. This year they are going on a mission trip to another part of Uganda which has a very high Muslim population. They are going there and partnering with a local church for the week or two that they are there. Every year EYO goes on one of these outreaches, but before they do they have a fundraiser called the EYO Bazar where people can donate books, jewellery, electronics, clothes and food and then have it sold to others and all the proceeds go to EYO! (for more info on EYO click on this link and this link to read about their outreach they did over Easter ) Today was the EYO Bazar so we headed down to the church and looked at what they had to offer. It was already 45 minutes into the bazar and by this point many of the things have been snatched up! Christina and I bought 2 sodas for 2000 shillings ($0.81 Canadian) and 2 books for 5000 ($2.03 Canadian)!! Pretty good deal if I do say so myself ;) Unfortunately the 2 books were part of a trilogy but we couldn't find the third book in the pile so hopefully there won't be a cliff hanger at the end! I hadn't heard of the books before but they seem interesting...and it is NEW READING MATERIAL...that we don't get very much!

At EYO Bazar we found Julia and invited her over for a little while. We did perler beads...

...and played bowling with the different letters of the alphabet!

Now she and Christina are reading Frog and Toad!

We are going to have soup for dinner tonight and then we will maybe play a game (?) or watch a movie (?) or maybe we will just go to bed : ) Hopefully we will able to play a game...like Settlers!
